New Digital Certificate

Post by jsmorley »

As of the latest beta release, r3433, we had to renew the digital certificate associated with the Rainmeter installer and executables.

Apparently the company we use for our digital certificate was sold during the 2-year life of our previous certificate, and this change means that the SmartScreen protection built into Windows will see the installer as "unrecognized" for a while. Once it has been downloaded and installed a number of times, and I have no idea what that number is, it will build "reputation" and all will be well. At least for another 2 years...

In the meantime, if you get a prompt that the installer is "unrecognized" when you run it, simply follow these steps:

Looks like the new certificate has obtained the "reputation" it needs with Microsoft, and it should no longer be an issue. Carry on...
