Re: Rainmeter Top Processes
I am currently away from home, so I can't help much at the moment, unfortunately. From the looks of it, it seems that it's an issue with .NET. I'll take a deeper look and get this fixed when I get back.

Edited so both entries read Plugin=TopProcesses.dll still crashes Rainmeter.DigitalDJ wrote:I've uploaded an updated package with the modified Skin file, get it here:
http://digitaldj.net/rainmeter/TopProcesses_2.1.0.0_rev1.zip
Alternatively, if you're finding Rainmeter hangs, edit your config and make sure your Plugin= line is
Code: Select all
Plugin=TopProcesses.dll
Comment out second measure, Rainmeter starts then crashes. Comment out both, Rainmeter work, though obviously measures don't...

If you didn't, make sure you completely exit and restart Rainmeter after changing the skin.Seahorse wrote: Edited so both entries read Plugin=TopProcesses.dll still crashes Rainmeter.

Can you upload your skin somewhere so I can take a look?Seahorse wrote: Edited so both entries read Plugin=TopProcesses.dll still crashes Rainmeter.

The code between the last versions and this one hasn't changed all that much...so I wonder if it's just the new API acting up...

Please note that once I re-built a couple of weeks ago both TopProcess and AdvancedCPU ceased to report anything to do with processes. So, same OS (Win7 64) new motherboard, processor, RAM, SSD, HD & graphics. I simply re-installed Rainmeter and the rmskin and it no longer worked. As this is a fully patched clean install and I have asked if there were any support files required to get this going with no indication that there were, I don't think the issue it the new PC build.

If AdvCPU plugin is not working, then this is also unlikely to work. I've just tried the skin on 3 _clean_ VMs: Win7 x64, Win7 x86 and XP x86
No problems at all.
I assume AdvCPU also relies on PerfMon, so perhaps you have a broken Perfmon database that needs repairing...
You might want to try:
%windir%\system32\perfmon.msc
Then go to Performance Monitor, right click the graph and "Add Counter", find Process and select _Total. See if it actually reports anything.

Yeah, although I've had Perfmon get hinky when a big hardware change was made, and rebuilding the counter database seemed to help.DigitalDJ wrote: Frankly, if something is this broken...it's time to reformat hah :P

Re: Rainmeter Top Processes
Looks like Perfmon has been b0rked since day 1.
Fix didn't play nice:
Error: Unable to restore performance counter setting from backup file C:\Windows
\system32\PerfStringBackup.INI, error code is 1006
However lodctr /r results in Info: Successfully rebuilt performance counter setting from system backup store.
Note: Run command line as administrator.
AdvancedCPU works as does TopProcess 2.1.0.0...
