Vista/Font Trouble?

Post by hyde2042 »

If Vista is giving you trouble, as it gave me, then hopefully this'll help.

To be more specific, I wasn't able to change the font on my Kiwimeter. after searching and asking on many boards and chans someone on here stated that they only use True Type font. The font I had was Open Type.

I had heard you could simply change the extension and get the desired result, but Vista wouldn't let me do that. So I got a font changer from [s]obscured[/s]...

Code: Select all

Link removed. No links to illegal software please.Sorry :(
with this you can change the font from Open to true type and vice versa. i'm sure you can do some other things, but I employed it for the sole purpose of converting Open Type to True Type.

Hopefully this helps someone.

Lets see if we can't find a freeware font converter.

That didn't take long. Did you try to find a freeware changer?

http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/

I haven't tested this, just found it. If someone would like to try it out, and let us know how it does, that would be great.

Sorry... didn't know about the "no-linking" thing.

It's just usually where I get my stuff from.

I saw the sourceforge one before but I believe it was just a demo.. .I'll still try it out right after I'm done studying for my midterm.

There is fontforge, available through Sourceforge. It is free, but for windows users there is a catch: You must install cygwin, or us a Linux distro.

I use this software with cygwin, and works like a charm, even in vista, but for newbies, it is not for the faint of heart, but I will still suggest it.

All the required information can be found at:
