Edit the skin, you will see near the top is the rss feed address, save and refresh.

Hi

When Google Reader closed, my SimpleMeter_v2.0 RSS reader didn't work anymore.

I tried UniNews and after some changes I got it like I wanted. But then the problems began, Rainmeter crashes.

;UniNewsSubstitute=... doesn't help!

Then I tried http://www.rssmix.com/ on every RSS link. And it really seems like the most stable options. Thought I solved the problem but when I got home from work Rainmeter has crashed. The problem maybe is too many RSS feeds. I have 9. I used too have 13 with SimpleMeter. Right now I'm trying with 7 feeds but I really want at least 9.

Seems like ;UniNewsSubstitute=... and rssmix doesn't work well together. So I have no ; in my files right now.

Are errors like this normal with this skin? Got it always even with the example skin.

Code: Select all

ERRO (00:00:00.577) WebParser.dll: [MeasureFeedTitleOPMLPre] Matching error! (-1)

I also wonder if there are any difference if I change the files and folder names? Right now I have different folder names in the UniNews folder even with spaces. Then one .ini file in each folder. All .ini files with the same name.

Matching error! (-1) simply means that the webparser could not find a match for the requested info.

This is normal since this skin looks for multiple types of feeds. The skin usually only finds one type of feed which means the measures for the other feed types will generate "Matching error! (-1)" in the log.

These are simply information messages, not faults...

Thanks! I thought it maybe could be that way. Seven feeds is still working with rssmix (9h). Maybe seven or eight feeds are what my computer can handle. I have an Intel Core i7 4770K 3,50GHz. Looking forward to an update or an alternative rss reader!

UniNews certainly needs more cpu power at the point it reads the feeds than a standard news reader skin.

what you could do is not updating all feeds at the same interval. for your user experience it probably makes no difference if one skin updates every 600 seconds and the other one every 607 seconds for example.

it seems you are a native English speaker. if your feeds do not require UniCode characters, try this one: http://rainmeter.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=53498#p53498 it should be lighter on resources.

if you are using RSSMix for all your feeds, a multi-format reader like Kaelri's or mine does not make sense, as all your feeds are in the same format anyways. you could easily build your own single-format reader with this great tutorial: http://docs.rainmeter.net/tips/rss-feed-tutorial

Thank you for the three good tips :)

No, I'm not a native English speaker. But some of my feeds are in English. Right now it seems like the Evereader skin works with UniCode characters. Really strange, last time it didn't.

Maybe the best option is to build my own reader with the tutorial. I only need nine simple feeds.

Thanks again!

which Unicode characters are displayed depends on your locale codepage and also on the encoding of the feed. you wont have luck displaying Russian, Hindi or Korean feeds with Kaelri's Reader though.

Ok, I added CodePage=28605 to my new reader too see everything correct.

But I got a problem with RSS Mix.

This works fine
http://feeds.feedburner.com/canonrumors/rss

But with RSS Mix
http://www.rssmix.com/u/3777111/rss.xml

I got
WebParser.dll: [MeasureSite] Matching error! (-1)

please start your thread for this. it really has nothing to do with the original topic.
