Wlanapi.dll missing xp x64 sp2, plz help.

Post by entropykid »

Hi, noob here,

Rainmeter starts with error Wlanapi.dll not found, numerous hijinks and bugs ensue.

Now, I've gotten the impression that XP pro x64 doesn't include Wlanapi.dll, as released, and that there are not any hotfixes for this x64 version of windows.

Is there a workaround here? Has already this been resolved?

Currently Running: Rainmeter-1.2-r369-beta, though same error occurred under last stable release as well.

Great Thanks
Tim

Try a clean install of Rainmeter.

What do if you receive that error still:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/wlanapi-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm
You may be able to recover it with this.

Worse comes to worse, you can try downloading it from another website and dragging it into Rainmeter.exe.

No dice. Same error.
As for the registry fix. It's not that there's a missing file association in the registry.
It's that the file simply doesn't exist for xp pro x64 sp2.

As for the hotfix mentioned by
poiru. That's x86 (32-bit) only. Tried install and failed twice.

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?wlanapi Hosts a file with the description (viewed in explorer):

5.1.2600.3024 (xpsp_sp2_qfe.061030-2313)

Coped to c:\windows\system32, c:\windows\system, ad even Rainmakers plugins folder.
Still won't recogize.

Everything apparently hates xp pro x64. (at least it was free)

Searching rm and ms related boards at this time. Any help would be appreciated.
