Wallpaper.bmp

Post by mak_kawa »

Lately I have noticed that the image file "Wallpaper.bmp" exsits in Rainmeter settings folder (C:\Users\user-name\AppData\Roaming\Rainmeter). This file is updated as !SetWallpaper bang executes.

As far as I have searched, no information about "Wallpaper.bmp" is in both Raimeter documents and forum.

What is this bmp file? !SetWallpaper bang doesn't send jpg file directly to Windows?
Probably there is no need of care about at all. :-) But can I supress creating this? Am I missing some option for the bang?

Windows requires a .bmp file for the desktop background. Whatever program you use, even Windows itself, will always create a copy of any .jpg .png, convert it, and then tell Windows to use that. That is what Rainmeter does as well. That Wallpaper.bmp is just the copy of the last image you used with !SetWallpaper, converted to .bmp format.

Hi jsmorley

Thank you for explanation. Again I was missing... "Windows' basics"(!), this time. :-)
