Rainmeter not loading automatically in Win10 1709

Post by wawood8 »

Am running Rainmeter Beta v4.2.3018.

Previously, on Win10 v1703, I had different skins on the two user accounts -- but both accounts were Administrators.

I ran into problems on the second account and changed it to General user -- but Rainmeter and their skin still worked OK.

Today, the laptop upgraded to Win10 v1709 (Fall Creators Update) and although my Rainmeter skins display just fine, in the second account, Rainmeter no longer showed as installed. So, I installed it, and although now, Rainmeter shows as installed, it does not start with Windows -- and I can find nothing in Settings to configure that.

Create a shortcut to Rainmeter in your C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.

I reverted the laptop back to 1703 (due to additional problems) and the problem vanished.

But then yesterday, the 1709 upgrade was offered through Windows Update and I took it.

After the Upgrade, the problem was back, so I followed the advice and created a Rainmeter shortcut on the desktop -- and that works just fine.

Thanks for the advice.
