Yes, already known, but it's a real problem only if you're using a very huge playlist.

I don't know, I'm not using Spotify, just read an article about this and wanted to warn users.fonpaolo wrote:Yes, already known, but it's a real problem only if you're using a very huge playlist.

I also don't use spotify, some time ago I was thinking to make a variant for spotify users, then I put it aside...
Since I read Ars, there are some tests highlighting some real "danger" for huge playlists, it seems a bug that constantly writes the whole playlist again and again.

Yes, but an average SSD in reality has a longer life than we can think, I have seen some tests where they have exceeded the manufacturer limits and they were still good.balala wrote:Which, especially for an SSD, can be fatal.

I just bought a computer with an SSD, so I'll be curious. I hope it'll properly work long time from now on...fonpaolo wrote:Yes, but an average SSD in reality has a longer life than we can think, I have seen some tests where they have exceeded the manufacturer limits and they were still good.

I'm sorry to say it depends on the kind of SSD, high quality is always better...

It's rather old now, however here's the article: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/06/consumer-grade-ssds-actually-last-a-hell-of-a-long-time/
